NHEMA annually offers scholarships and awards. They are presented by the Scholarship and Awards Committee at the spring (May) conference.  All nominations must be received by March 1, 2007.

Scholarships

NHEMA Scholarship has been established to support continuing education in the library field.  Awards will be given for undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, continuing education or techniques courses.  Scholarship Application in PDF format

NHEMA Excellence in Library Media Services Award is given for a library media program and services.  

The Excellence in Library Media Services Award is given for a library media program and services.  Nominations are accepted from superintendents, principals, teachers, library media staff or community members, but not from the nominee her/himself.  Guidelines:

The nominee needs to have advocated for students and teachers to be lifelong learners and demonstrated a commitment to on-going self-education to keep abreast of current trends and technologies.

The nomination will be judged on the role the library media professional has played in developing and supporting a library program and services.

Applications must include

Rationale and details supporting the nominee

The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination

The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHEMA.  Nominations are due by March 1st.

NHEMA Paraprofessional Award is given to recognize the contribution of library support staff.  Nomination form in pdf format. Nomination form in Word Format

The Paraprofessional Award is given to recognize the contribution of library support staff who are involved in library operations at all levels.  Their duties may include routine to very specialized expertise in the field.  Nominations are accepted from superintendents, principals, teachers, library media staff or community members, but not from the nominee her/himself. Guidelines:

The nomination will be judged on the role the library media professional has played in developing and supporting a library program and services within the school.
The nominee must be a member of NHEMA.

Applications must include a short statement with examples of the nominee’s contributions and the name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination.

The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHEMA.  Nominations are due by March 1st.

NHEMA Partnership Award  Nomination form in pdf format. Nomination form in Word Format 

The NHEMA Partnership Award has been established to recognize a NHEMA member and a teacher, administrator, other library professional, parent or volunteer whose cooperative efforts have enhanced a library program.  The NHEMA member must be fully certified by the State of New Hampshire as a Media Generalist or Media Specialist.

A written statement identifying specific reasons for the nomination
Rationale for the nomination expressed in terms of the concepts stated in Information Power: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs (ALA/AASL, AECT, 1988)
The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination

The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHEMA.  Nominations are due by March 1st.

NHEMA/SIRS Intellectual Freedom Award is given for an individual or group that has championed the cause of intellectual freedom in a tangible way in an educational setting.  Nomination form in pdf format. Nomination form in Word Format. 

The NHEMA/SIRS Intellectual Freedom Award is given for an individual or group that has championed the cause of intellectual freedom in a tangible way in an educational setting. 

Nominees will be judged on the role they have played in actively promoting intellectual freedom in their sphere of influence and beyond, the degree to which the nominee exemplifies the spirit of intellectual freedom and the impact made by their efforts to promote intellectual freedom
If the nominee is an educational media professional, s/he must be a member of NHEMA
A statement detailing the reasons for the nomination
The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination

The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHEMA.  Nominations are due by March 1st.

NHEMA Service Award is presented to a NHEMA member who has served the profession and the organization. 

The NHEMA Service Award is presented to a NHEMA member who has served the profession and the organization in an exemplary and unselfish manner. 

Membership in NHEMA
Member of the school library community in New Hampshire
Significant statewide impact on the library/media profession through service to NHEMA members
A supporting statement
The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination.
